KU Graduate Organization of Bands

The Kutztown University Graduate Organization of Bands, more commonly referred to as the GOBs, is an alumni organization made up of individuals who were active in the music programs during their time at KU. Today, the GOBs actively support the music programs at Kutztown University, both through scholarship and service.

Reid F. Lessig Scholarship 2025

The GOBs are privileged to be able to honor outstanding freshmen musicians through the Reid F. Lessig Scholarship, which was created in memory of Reid F. Lessig, a1972 Kutztown University graduate.

All freshmen students who have participated in any of the following large group musical ensembles during their first year of college are eligible to apply: Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band.

Application Process:

All applications must be completed electronically through the online form.
Applications must be received no later than 11:59 PM on Friday, March 28, 2025.

The Scholarship will be presented to the recipient during a Spring Concert held by the Department of Music on Sunday, April 27. All award money will be applied toward the following Fall term tuition.

Kudos and congratulations to the Kutztown University Marching Unit 2024 class of seniors! These seniors were recognized at the Golden Bear Gala on November 22, 2024.

Reid F. Lessig Scholarship 2024 WINNERS

The Scholarship Committee has selected Isabella Lara and Emily Lucas as the recipients of the 2024 Reid F. Lessig Scholarship! Join us in congratulations to these standout students.

The GOBs Celebrate 50th Anniversary

On Sunday, March 13, 2022, the Graduation Organization of Bands welcomed alumni and their families back to campus for an evening of reuniting and reminiscing as we honored the past 50 years of the marching band program at Kutztown University. The evening was celebrated with live music, dinner, and memories. Thank you to all alumni who joined us for this very special evening. Special thanks to the Kutztown Foundation and Department of Music for their support and assistance to make this event a success!
